Paddleboarding In Central Florida

Wekiva Standupoffers SUP lessons, SUP eco tours, SUP surf lessons, SUP fitness classes, and private SUP parties. Our instructors are WPA Level 1 and Paddle Fit Level 2 Certified so you can assure yourself that you are in good hands. You will safely learn proper technique and most of all have FUN!
What better place to "walk on water", than in our own backyard on the wild and scenic Wekiva River. We also travel to other areas around Central Florida for SUPing and encountering wildlife including the beaches and intra-coastal waterways of Volusia County.

Wekiva Standup Is In Business!

I'm psyched to announce that we are officially in business! We're finalizing the website and will be scheduling tours on our meetup page starting in January 2013. Stay tuned! Check us out on the web at: Wekiva Standup and on Facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/wekivaSUP

Coreban Nitro

This looks like a sweet board for when the waves get good! Hmmm...what to do? might be time for an upgrade...Video

Paddling Trails of Florida

I found this link to a list of designated paddling trails in the entire state of Florida: http://www.dep.state.fl.us/gwt/guide/paddle.htm. Each link opens up a new page to detailed information with mile markers and estimated distances between marked locations on the paddling trails. How long will it take to check off every trail off of the list? It will be fun to find out...

Small Wave Fun

Had a small (2-3ft @ 10 sec) swell on Saturday with air temps in the mid 70's and water temps in the mid 60's. Although the waves were small I was surprised to find the beach at New Smyrna empty of surfers. Maybe they all surfed the early morning high tide at the inlet but, still, it was an empty line up for the hour an a half that I was there. I'm not complaining either, about the small surf or the empty line up. I was happy to get some Vitamin D and catch every wave to myself without having to deal with a crowd.

Back To Reality

We had a great week up in New England with family and friends to celebrate the winter holidays! Had some time for snowboarding and skiing, the pic was taken at Mt. Sunapee  in New Hampshire last Friday. Other than the mountains which can make their own snow, we were snow-free. That was a bummer because we hoped for a white Christmas and it was cold! Cold without the snow sucks!

Sam HATES the cold, by the way, so this pic tells it all as we walked in downtown Boston with a nasty windchill to boot.

We flew back on New Year's Eve, and were back to reality on New Year's Day to go for a nice sunny paddle in the Wekiva. It's good to be home...
